Artist Mathilde Roussel-Giraudy

Artist Mathilde Roussel-Giraudy asks you to reflect on the loss of a loved one with her creative sculpture series Empreinte. She cut and stitched a real pillow, and then cast it with plaster to make a mold for the ceramic piece. She also used a wool sweater and covered it with resin to make it look stiff and hollow inside. From sketch to final execution, these pieces took her a month to complete. (more…)

Monkey Full Of Flip Flops

Fat Monkey” is an outdoor art installation by Florentijn Hofman, which was displayed in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The artist explains that the concept is based on Sao Paulo, a location that roars like a beast and is impossible to tame. A place with so many people, so many things to do and very little time. Hofman uses flip flops as an iconic symbol of this country, and also to express the flexibility of the people who live and adapt to an extremely large city. (more…)
